Gaiser Bee CO.
Owner Name: Dr. Cory Gaiser, MD & Krystle Gaiser
Year Started: 2015
Gaiser Bee CO. is a locally owned beekeeping company that makes beekeeping products as well as all natural beauty products. They dedicate a large amount of their time on raising awareness about honey bees through jewelry, t-shirts, classes, videos, and their non for profit company #projectpollination. We interviewed Gaiser Bee CO. to learn more.
Can you tell us more about your company?
We have always been interested in finding ways to be more self-sustaining. For years we've been doing things like gardening, composting, and even keeping chickens. After our first couple years we noticed that fruit and vegetable yield was low and quickly realized it was because of the low pollinators. At that time, the plague of the honey bee, also known as the "Colony Collapse Disorder" was becoming more publicized.
After learning about this pandemic, we dedicated our time to learning as much as we could about these amazing creatures. Going from conference to conference, researching, and traveling to apiaries across the US, we wanted to learn everything we could about honey bees.
That Spring to come, we got bees! Trading some chickens for our first colony was so much fun! It seemed like right after getting our first bees everyone wanted updates, started following us on social media, calling/ texting, and friends would even just stop by! It was great !!
Our vast knowledge in beekeeping soon led us to mentor other beekeepers, teach backyard beekeeping classes, and even asked to join the Cincinnati Nature Center.
The best part was everyone we met wanted to do their part in saving the bees. From learning about organic gardening techniques to keeping bees theirselves. Most didn't know where to get started. That was when our mentoring program called "Host-A-Hive" began. The program allows people at any level of beekeeping to get involved. From never touching the hive to full hands ownership.
We focus our business on educating people about the importance of the honey bee and what they can do to help. Our knowledge is the fuel behind what we do.
What aspect of your business makes you proud?
We love being part of something that is bigger then ourselves.
Is your business involved in any charity work in the local community?
We donate our time to the Cincinnati Nature Center in educating classes. We are getting ready to launch a non-profit organization #ProjectPollination that raises money to relocate honey bee colonies in community gardens, churches, and parks.
Why do you love Ohio?
Ohio is an amazing place to live. Cincinnati has a big city feel with a small town kindness.
Would you like us to include anything else for our readers?
We make a variety of all natural beauty products including lip balms, bath bombs, lotion bars, soaps, etc. Also, local raw all natural honey.
