In 2012, Matt Overholt spent $100 on a start up printing kit for something to do in his spare time. He had taken classes 12 years prior and wanted to try it out again. Slowly but surely, he started making more and more designs. His creations drew the attention of several local store owners. They asked be interested in selling in their stores. Proudly, after 4 years of "building his brand", his hobby has become my full time job. As of this moment, 7THIRTY8APPAREL is in over a dozen stores across the beautiful state of Ohio. Matt's start up kit has grown into a full print shop. We asked Matt a few questions to learn more!
What aspect of your business makes you most proud?
Really just that I've done it. I have tremendously talented friends that have helped with some artwork and I have a great wife that sews my pennants when I'm done printing and cutting them so I've had help along the way. It's so gratifying making a living doing what you want and on your own terms.
Is your business involved in any charity work?
Since the beginning, I have donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and continue to be fairly active in that. I've also donated to the Columbus Literacy Council and am an active member in a local non profit offering arts programming for the youth.
Why do you love Ohio?
Because I feel like it has something for everyone. Personally, I love all of the parks and hiking trails that are all over. I live 5 minutes from the Mad River Mountain which is a ski/snowboard park so that's great in the winter and there's so much to do outside in the spring and summer.
Would you like us to include anything else for our readers?
I just want to thank any and all of you who have supported me and my dream in the last 4 years! I am so so thankful and honored to be able to do what I love for a living.
